She received her Ph.D. in Management with a specialization in Leadership and Organizational Change, has a master’s degree in Public Administration, and a bachelor’s degree in Social Work.
Dr. Cain has 19 years of service with the Federal Government and has been a management official for the past 15 years. She has led and managed over 70 public service employees over the course of her career. She has a passion for motivating and encouraging employees to achieve their goals and has helped other management personnel with human resource issues. Mentoring and coaching new management officials is where she finds the most joy!
Dr. Cain has developed and facilitated several leadership training programs that has helped people with interpersonal skills, soft skills, providing feedback, diversity, teamwork, and managing conflict in the workplace.
Dr. Cain has extensive experience with employee labor and relations issues, performance issues, and developing employees to prepare them for promotions. She has gained significant insight into managing and leading people through her experiences. Her doctoral dissertation focused on job satisfaction amongst Federal government employees in which she conducted research to discover creative and innovative ways of management motivating employees to increase satisfaction and decrease turnover.
Dr. Cain is well-known for her positive attitude and demeanor. She seeks to create a work environment in which employees can thrive, be happy, and increase production. She enjoys working with people and figuring out what makes people “tick”. Understanding diversity, Dr. Cain interacts with employees based on knowing that there is “no best fit” to management.
Dr. Cain is the mother of two children. In her spare time, Lafaun enjoys exercising, shopping, and spending time with family.
